This message is sent on behalf of the office of the National Coordinator Protect and Prepare.
This message relates to the decision to reduce the threat level from CRITICAL to SEVERE.
The Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre (JTAC) has this morning made the decision to reduce the threat level for interntional terrorism to the UK from CRITICAL to SEVERE.
COBR has expressed an expectation that the current policing posture will remain in place until 0700 hours on Tuesday 30th May 2017, when it should begin a return to an appropriate level based on a SEVERE threat level.
COBR recognised that the policing plan for the weekend was reflective of risk and community reassurance. Therefore, the current policing posture for the bank holiday weekend would remain in place until at least 0700 hours on Tuesday 30th May 2017.
We would ask that businesses to reflect this by maintaining their current security stance and embark on a gradual return to a relevant level by maintaining high visibility, up to and beyond this time in order to provide reassurance.
We would remind you that the threat level – SEVERE – an attack is highly likely.
