About – South West

The Cross-sector Safety and Security Communications (CSSC) South West region was established in 2017, and covers the counties of Avon and Somerset, Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire.

CSSC South West region works in partnership with key public and private sector organisations to provide south west businesses with a range of general and south west specific safety and security information.  This may range from physical security issues and crowded places security guidance to cyber security and fraud.

CSSC South West region is a two-way communications vehicle, and information coming into the hub is as important as that being sent out. Since inception, there have been a number of occasions where consultation with ISLs and their sector colleagues has led to information that has informed and provided invaluable insights for our public sector partners.

CSSC South West is in the process of building a network of Industry Sector Leads (ISLs) for the region that will be responsible for cascading information to industry sector colleagues in the south west. Businesses and organisations may join CSSC to receive messaging, or apply to become an ISL for their sectors by completing an online sign-up form. Further details and the sign-up form may be found here.

In the event of a major incident that is likely to have wide-reaching impact across the south west region, our partnership with the police and other relevant private and public sector bodies ensures that we can deliver “one single truth” – timely, authoritative and accurate information – via ISLs for onward distribution to their networks, so that businesses can make informed, appropriate decisions if necessary.

CSSC South West region is run by a Senior Management Board.
