About – West Midlands

CSSC West Midlands

CSSC West Midlands is building a partnership-based framework to communicate with businesses in the West Midlands to focus on helping businesses address safety, security, resilience and emergency preparedness issues.

The regional initiative builds on the mature London CSSC model and brings together public and private sector, including regional and national law enforcement.

In the event of a major incident that is likely to have wide-reaching impact across the West Midlands region, our partnership with the police, transport bodies and local government will aim to ensure that we can deliver “one single truth” information via Industry Sector Leads (ISLs) for onward distribution to their networks, so that businesses can make informed, appropriate decisions if necessary.

CSSC West Midlands hub is hosted by Severn Trent security and resilience team and the aim is to help businesses remain resilient in the event of a major security incident.

CSSC West Midlands is a two-way communications vehicle, and information coming into the hub is as important as that being sent out. The group is in the process of building a network of Business Champions, who can support the work of CSSC in the West Midlands by becoming Industry Sector Leads (ISL’s). The role of an ISL is to onward cascade messages within their sector and promote the work of CSSC in the region.

CSSC West Midlands is run by a Senior Management Board that oversees operations and an operational team that handles day-to-day activity and development.
