The National Co-ordinator Protect and Prepare (NCPP) is aware of an incident that has taken place in Liege, Belgium that occurred at about 10.30 am local time today, Tuesday 29th May 2018.
Reports indicate that a male attacked two police officers with a knife, then took one of their firearms before shooting both officers.
A third person who was in a motor vehicle nearby was also shot during the incident.
The attacker apparently took a person hostage in a nearby school before being shot by police.
At this time, whilst there are indications that this could be terrorist related, the motive behind the incident has not been confirmed by authorities.
Counter Terrorism Policing are monitoring the incident, and if appropriate, will provide further information through CSSC.
